The latest Pantheon Pranayama Portal 31″ Custom Longboard Complete comes with a new pre-preg fiberglass construction. With new construction comes new flex, and this deck actually comes in two flexes! Pantheon had heavy riders stretch onto the Pranayama for ages, and it has mostly worked out, but also Pantheon wanted to be able to offer a stiffer flex to be able to handle some extra weight without overdoing it for some time now. The Pranayama Portal Heavy Flex is a 6 ply core with wet lay triax fiberglass top bottom, then covered in a pre-preg fiberglass shell. The graphic is sublimated into the glass, so it’s there to stay. This board should be good up to about 240 lbs, although Pantheon may modify that recommendation with more data over time.

Also the Pantheon Pranayama Portal LDP Longboard comes now in a light flex version, featuring a 5 ply core with a pink stripe down the middle so you can easily tell the difference. The 5 ply is a touch softer than the standard Pranayama construction, so it will be well suitable for lighter riders, or just riders who want a softer ride. It’s been tested successfully at 190 lbs, so it can handle weight, but riders who are after more speed and control may prefer the original construction or the stiff flex.

Because the Pranayama is designed specifically around street-style trucks, this complete commuter longboard will come alive on the streets in a way that you’ve never felt on a distance or commuter longboard. It may take a little getting used to, being so lively. Once you do, it’s a whole lot of fun, and you’ll find yourself outside riding further and longer than ever.

While this board makes for an excellent distance commuter/cruiser at low speeds, it was ridden fully stock to win the 2019 Beijing Skateboard Marathon–its debut skateboard distance race! It has continued to perform since then, and most recently, it even won the women’s class at the 2024 Broadway Bomb! Riders find that the Pranayama specifically maneuvers around foot traffic and road obstacles with greater speed and ease than most other longboards at high pushing speeds.

Setup Advice

The Pranayama is truly optimized on Paris 149mm trucks and the Pantheon Stylus Trucks. Pick your choice of any color and durometer (softness) of either the 85mm Seismic Speed Vents, 85mm Orangatang Caguama, the huge Pantheon Karma 92mm or even bigger, the Pantheon Hoku 102mm wheels. Paris are notoriously high TKP trucks, so if you want a lower setup, you can try a classic Independent 149mm as well, but really, we love the turn on Paris so much that if wanted it to be lower, we would just pick a slightly smaller wheels like the Orangatang 80mm Kegel or the new 80.5mm Seismic Alpha, or put a little drop through riser on the board. We do feel, though, that most will appreciate the stock height and feel of the suggested setups. It is unlikely that it can get any better, but we will pay attention to reviews and our own experiences and modify this section if necessary.

If you want to go for wheels for maximum comfort and rolling momentum, choose the Pantheon Hoku Wheels. You can easily lower your ride height with risers.(You simply have to saw them, but we prefer the Juice Cubes since they’re 3/8″ thick which is quite special and also built very solidly. Also they look cool and while being high quality, they are inexpensive). These Risers will bring you down to the same height as you would have when riding the Karmas.

We have found that you can easily ride your Pranayama with these larger wheels just by tightening down the nut an extra quarter turn, and this happens without significantly restricting the truck’s articulation, meaning you can still have a nice and lively setup, especially with the Stylus Trucks. (Just in case: check your Setup for wheelbites before riding it, since this depends also on riders weight, riding style, and so on. You might need to krank your bushings down a bit or replace them with some harder ones so you won’t get a wheelbite.) For maximum flexibility and liveliness with your truck setup, run the 92mm Karma wheels, Seismic Speed Vent, Orangatang Caguama. But if you’re feeling bold and want to steamroll everything in your path, choose the 102mm Hokus! Setting up this huge-wheeled commuter longboard complete to be totally bite free is a non-issue with the Stylus trucks.
